Talvi Hunt is an Estonian pianist specialized in contemporary music. In 2017 Talvi obtained a Master degree in contemporary music interpretation with prof. Florian Hoelscher at Hochschule Luzern Musik (Switzerland). Bachelor degree in music performance received Talvi from Estonian Academy of Music and Theater with Age Juurikas. She is also interested in interdisciplinary art projects and improvisation, in which she complemented her skills in Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2012. Talvi has participated in many masterclasses, as well contemporary music courses such as Donaueschinger Musiktage (DE), Darmstadt, 48th Internationalen Ferienkursen für Neue Musik (DE), IMPULS Academy (A T).
Talvi is active as a soloist, ensemble and orchestra player. She has performed in many contemporary music festivals, including Lucerne Festival, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Festival ECLAT (Stuttgart), Klang Basel, Festival ZeitRäume (Basel), Taktlos Festival (Zürich), reMusik (St.Petersburg), ISCM World New Music Days in Tallinn, Festival AFEKT (Tallinn) etc. Talvi has played in collectives such as Collegium Novum Zürich, Ensemble Ö!, YXUS ensemble, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, Estonian National Orchestra. As one of the founding members she is part of Ensemble of Nomads since 2015 based in Switzerland. In 2020 she joined also Ensemble for New Music Tallinn. She has worked with composer such as Helmut Lachenmann, Wolfgang Rihm, Peter Ablinger, Enno Poppe, Michael Wertmüller, Jürg Wyttenbach, Michael Beil and Michel van der Aa. Currently she is working at Estonian National Opera Orchestra and teaches new music ensemble in Georg Ots Music School. Talvi is also piano assistant to Stefan Wirth at New Music Academy in Hochshule Luzern Musik.
